EarthquakeZone Privacy Policy

EarthquakeZone provides earthquake information, maps, alerts, saved location monitoring, daily summaries, statistics, and optional premium features. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you use the EarthquakeZone mobile application and related services.

EarthquakeZone is an informational tool only. Earthquake data, alerts, notifications, risk indicators, distance calculations, and summaries may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, unavailable, or affected by third-party data providers, device settings, network conditions, operating system limitations, and user configuration. The app is not an official emergency warning system and must not be relied on as the sole source for safety, evacuation, disaster response, or emergency decisions. Always follow official government, emergency management, civil protection, and local authority instructions.

Information We Collect

Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, EarthquakeZone may collect or process the following categories of information:

Approximate or precise device location, when you grant location permission, to calculate nearby earthquakes, distance-based alerts, country-specific behavior, and local risk information.
Saved or tracked locations that you create in the app, including location name, city name, latitude, longitude, radius, magnitude threshold, icon, color, notification preference, display order, and related timestamps.
Notification information, including push notification tokens, notification preferences, device platform, locale, country, timezone, app version, operating system version, and device model, when notifications are enabled or configured.
App usage and analytics events, such as screen views, feature interactions, paywall events, subscription status refreshes, purchase flow results, and basic event parameters used to understand and improve the app.
Subscription and purchase status information handled through Apple and RevenueCat, such as product identifiers, entitlement status, purchase or restore outcomes, and related diagnostics.
Advertising-related data processed through Google Mobile Ads / AdMob for users who are eligible to receive ads, including identifiers and signals used by Google to request, deliver, measure, limit, and improve ads, subject to your device settings and applicable consent choices.
Technical and diagnostic information, such as error messages, request status, app version, device characteristics, and logs needed to operate, secure, debug, and improve the app.
Information you voluntarily send to us, such as support requests, emails, feedback, or other communications.

How We Use Information

We use information to operate and improve EarthquakeZone, including to:

Show earthquake lists, maps, detail pages, statistics, daily summaries, and location-based information.
Calculate distances, nearby activity, monitoring regions, and optional personal or family risk views.
Send notifications for nearby, world, tracked-location, or daily summary earthquake updates when enabled.
Store and sync your tracked locations and notification preferences.
Provide subscriptions, premium access checks, purchase, and restore functionality.
Display advertising to eligible non-premium users and measure ad performance.
Analyze app usage, diagnose issues, prevent abuse, maintain security, and improve features.
Respond to support, legal, operational, or user requests.

Location Data

If you grant location permission, the app may use your device location to identify nearby earthquakes, estimate distance, configure default tracked regions, determine country-specific app behavior, and provide relevant alerts. You can disable location access in your device settings. Some features may be limited or unavailable without location access.

When you save tracked locations or enable related notifications, location coordinates and preferences may be sent to our backend service so those features can work across sessions and support notifications. Location data should not be used as a guarantee of personal safety, hazard exposure, or emergency risk.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, the app may collect and store a push notification token and related device/app information through Firebase Cloud Messaging, Apple Push Notification service, and our backend provider. Notifications may be delayed, not delivered, duplicated, or inaccurate. They are provided for convenience only and are not official emergency alerts.

Advertising

EarthquakeZone uses Google Mobile Ads / AdMob. Ads may be shown to eligible non-premium users. AdMob and its partners may process device identifiers, advertising identifiers where available, approximate location, IP address, app activity, diagnostics, and other signals to request, serve, personalize, limit, measure, and improve ads, depending on your region, consent status, account settings, device settings, and applicable law.

On iOS, where required, the app uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before allowing tracking for advertising purposes. If you do not allow tracking, the app may still show ads, but those ads should not use the advertising identifier for tracking.

You can control ad personalization through your device settings and any consent or privacy choices made available in the app or by Google. Premium users and users in certain regions may not be shown ads according to the app's current business rules, but this may change as the app evolves.

Subscriptions and Purchases

EarthquakeZone offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions. Purchases are processed by Apple. Subscription status and entitlement information may be managed through RevenueCat so the app can unlock premium features and restore purchases. We do not receive your full payment card details from Apple.

Third-Party Services

EarthquakeZone may use third-party services, SDKs, and infrastructure providers, including Apple services, Firebase, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google Mobile Ads / AdMob, Supabase, RevenueCat, and earthquake data providers. These services may process information according to their own terms and privacy policies. We use these providers to operate the app, deliver notifications, manage subscriptions, provide advertising, store app data, and analyze app performance.

Sharing and Disclosure

We may disclose information when necessary to operate the app through service providers, comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect rights and safety, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce agreements, or support a merger, acquisition, financing, sale, or transfer of business assets. We do not sell your personal information directly to unrelated third parties for cash.

Retention and Deletion

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including operation, security, analytics, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and backup requirements. Retention periods may vary by data type and service provider.

You may request deletion of personal data associated with your use of EarthquakeZone by contacting us. Some data may be retained where required for legal, security, fraud prevention, accounting, backup, or legitimate operational reasons. You can delete or modify tracked locations and notification preferences in the app where those controls are available.

Your Choices

You can enable or disable location permission in iOS Settings.
You can enable or disable notifications in iOS Settings and in app settings where available.
You can manage subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings.
You can limit ad tracking or personalization through iOS and Google advertising settings where available.
You can contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy assistance.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no app, network, server, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, available, or error-free.

Children

EarthquakeZone is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children where parental consent is required by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

International Processing

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your country of residence. Data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the app after an update means the revised policy applies, where permitted by law.
